Bigger and Better
New Bedford Community Health Expands into Former Rite Aid BuildingNew Bedford Community Health has announced that it has purchased a 13,829-square-foot, three-story building on Purchase Street in New Bedford for $930,000 to meet the demand to better provide care to underserved communities on the South Coast.
New Bedford Community Health will be expanding to 824 Purchase Street, which was formerly a Rite Aid. Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2023 and announced plans to close a number of its stores, including the Rite Aid at 824 Purchase Street. The building is currently home to 3 tenants – The King of Kings Church at 71 Williams St., My City Nutrition at 75 Williams St., and Backstage Dance Academy at 77 Williams St., all of who will still be occupying in the building.
The purchase of the former Rite Aid building comes months after New Bedford Community Health bought the adjoining Chinese restaurant on Purchase Street, Bamboo Garden, which had closed since the beginning of the pandemic.
