NBHC to Move to EPIC on May 1st!

On May 1, 2023, New Bedford Community Health will join several other Community Health Centers in Massachusetts to transition our electronic health record system to Epic. Moving to the Epic EHR system will allow us to:

Moving to the Epic EHR system will allow us to:

Care Better
Epic helps improve patient care to create better outcomes. Epic's MyChart patient portal enables patients and caregivers to be more actively engaged in their health journey, resulting in a better experience. Epic's functionality allows us to share and receive patient information with many other organizations so we can get a more complete picture of the services a patient has received.

Work Better
The Epic system allows us to work more collaboratively by creating an integrated health record for every patient; to work more efficiently by allowing us to access a worldwide network of best practices to guide the work we do; and to work more effectively by being an easier system to use, reducing burden and time for staff to complete their work.

Be Better
Epic is a key tool in our journey toward health equity. Our staff and patients deserve access to the best systems and we will now have that. Accessible, standardized patient records help improve access, minimize health disparities, and remove many barriers to high-quality care for historically marginalized communities.

The move to Epic will help New Bedford Community Health improve patient care, improve care coordination, enhance the care team experience, and operate more efficiently. While we expect this to be a smooth transition, we would like patients to understand that your first visit after we make this change may take a little longer as our staff are adjusting to the new system. We appreciate your patience and look forward to serving you better with Epic!
