The Board of Directors of the Greater New Bedford Community Health Center is pleased to announce that Ms. Cheryl Bartlett has been appointed CEO of the center effective July 10, 2017. Previously, Ms. Bartlett was employed at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) for seven years with two of those years served as Commissioner. During her time with MDPH, Ms. Bartlett led the development of the Prevention & Wellness Trust Fund Program, chaired former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick's Interagency Council for Substance Abuse Prevention and Opiate Task Force to Address the Opiate Epidemic, and hosted several Community Health Dialogues and Opiate Round Tables across the state. In addition to her experience as Commissioner at MDPH, she is also a licensed Registered Nurse and the founder of the Nantucket AIDS Network. Most recently, she was the CEO of Alosa Health, a non-profit health research organization in Boston, MA. In recognition for her commitment to the health of Massachusetts' residents, she has been honored with the Spirit of SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Award, the American Cancer Society's Women Leading the Way to Wellness Award, and the Heroes in Action Award from the Massachusetts AIDS Action Committee. Ms. Bartlett has a Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration from Stonehill College.


The Greater New Bedford Community Health Center (GNBCHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), has been serving New Bedford, Massachusetts since 1981. GNBCHC, over the last three decades, provides primary care, oral health care, specialty medical care, and wellness services. GNBCHC's strong roots in the community give it the unique opportunity to care for individuals with attention to language, cultural, socio-economic, and health literacy barriers. With a deep understanding of the health care needs of the community, GNBCHC continues to enhance and expand its approach to address the health care challenges faced by residents and provide convenient access to primary care, without regard to the ability to pay. GNBCHC's mission and commitment to improving the quality of healthcare for all individuals in the community is shared with Ms. Bartlett.
