New Bedford Community Health is dedicated to providing women with individualized and comprehensive health care services that they deserve. With a staff made up of skilled, professional, and caring women, you will find boundless support as you improve your health with their guidance.

The Women's Health Department offers primary care services to female patients 17 years and older. The staff also includes a gynecologist who offers in-office gynecological care.

Women's Health at NBCH specializes in:

• Health maintenance, including routine physical exams, screening for preventable diseases, and health counseling.
• Breast cancer screenings
• Chronic disease management
• Contraceptive management
• OB/GYN

HOME-VISITING PROGRAM

HOME-VISITING PROGRAM

The Home-Visiting Program is dedicated to promoting early access to prenatal care through in home visits by licensed nurses at no cost to high risk pregnant women over the age of 19.

Services include:
•MassHealth and Healthy Start
•WIC Enrollment
•HIV Testing and counseling
•Dental referrals
•Prenatal vitamins
•Smoking reduction/cessation
•Short term counseling and referral
•Breast-feeding education and support

The Home-Visiting Program staff members are culturally sensitive and speak Spanish and Portuguese. Prenatal classes are offered for English-speaking and for Spanish-speaking patients. We help with:
•Preparing for delivery
•Infant care and feeding
•Following patients for six weeks post-partum

ADOLESCENT SERVICES

Adolescent Services provide confidential reproductive health care services to teens between the ages of 13 and 17. This care includes birth control with routine gynecological care including counseling and STD testing and treatment. The staff also conducts pregnancy testing as well as HIV counseling and testing. Health education is a part of every visit. Prevention and risk reduction are always emphasized.

Adolescents can make an appointment for Adolescent Services without parental consent. We also welcome calls from parents who want these services for their teenagers
