The
Greater
New Bedford Community Health Center (GNBCHC) has been operating since 1981. We serve over 20% of the population of Greater New Bedford with several medical, dental and ancillary health services, including adult and pediatric primary care, urgent care, dentistry, podiatry, nutrition, WIC, maternal and
child health, womens health services, HIV/AIDS primary care, prevention
and treatment, medical social work, translation services, benefits counseling,
nursing, tobacco treatment, and specialty clinics. On-site laboratory and
radiology services are provided, and a satellite site at the Caroline Street
Apartments offers health services for the elderly.
In
August 2007, the
GNBCHC completed an expansion initiative that doubled
the size of its downtown New Bedford campus. New and enhanced services include
ophthalmology through Advanced Eye Centers, Inc., renovated space for
pediatrics and womens health, a 340B pharmacy program through Walgreens,
and expanded space for group visits and support services.
