Women's Health - Located in New Bedford & Wareham, MA

The Women's Health Department provides primary care services to female patients 17 years and older. The provider staff includes a gynecologist who provides in-office gynecological care.

Maternal Child Health Program

The Maternal Child Health Program provides home visits to pregnant patients of the Health Center to promote healthy birth outcomes by promoting early access to prenatal care, insurance, and adequacy of care. This is accomplished through individual case management which includes application to MassHealth and Healthy Start, WIC enrollment, prenatal vitamins, HIV testing and counseling, dental referrals, smoking reduction/cessation, short term counseling and referral, and breast-feeding education and support.

This home-visiting program offers licensed nursing visits at no cost to high risk pregnant women over the age of 19 years. Staff members are culturally sensitive and speak Spanish and Portuguese. Prenatal classes are offered for English-speaking and for Spanish-speaking patients.

Adolescent Services provide confidential reproductive health care services to teens between the ages of 13 and 17. This care includes birth control with routine gynecological care including counseling and STD testing and treatment. The staff also conducts pregnancy testing as well as HIV counseling and testing. Health education is a part of every visit. Prevention and risk reduction are always emphasized.
